Patrick Vieira, 50, has been appointed head coach of Senegal, following the dismissal of Pape Bouna Thiaw after the team’s Round‑of‑16 exit at the World Cup.

Vieira, 50, who coached clubs such as NYCFC, Nice, Crystal Palace, Strasbourg and Genoa, takes over the Senegal national side.
