Orioles call up Gibson to start vs. Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles will activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday.

The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked Baltimore's No. 3 prospect by MLB.com, will face Max Fried as multiple Orioles starters are on the injured list. Gibson has a 4.01 ERA in Triple-A this season with 25 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings.

The Orioles, currently six games out of first place in the AL East with a 15-17 record, are dealing with injuries to Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, and Zach Eflin among others. cat-cross.com
