Mets Stand Behind Mendoza Despite Poor Start

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns confirmed Friday the team does not plan to fire manager Carlos Mendoza despite the team's poor performance.

Stearns told MLB.com, "We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more. We don't view this as a manager problem, and we don't intend to make a change." Mendoza is in the final guaranteed year of his three-year contract, which includes a club option for 2027. sport-tr.bet
