Manager of club makes contact to sign Alejandro Garnacho – Chelsea consider it

The manager of River Plate has apparently made direct contact with Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho ahead of a summer move.

And as well as this, Chelsea are actually considering the possible move.

It’s not really been plain sailing for Garnacho in a Chelsea shirt despite him having some decent moments and popping up with some important goals and assists. He’s certainly not performed great yet and most Chelsea fans believe they can easily upgrade him this summer.

Of course, if he does go this summer, he would have lasted just a year at Chelsea Football Club, and his move will be seen as yet another real failure under this ownership.

Garnacho to River Plate?

Liam Rosenior gives Alejandro Garnacho a note against PSG.

In information reported by Sport Witness this week, TyC Sports journalist Gonzalo Carol has suggested that River Plate manager Eduardo Coudet has made contact with Alejandro Garnacho.

He also claimed Chelsea would look favourably on a one-year loan to Argentina.

I actually believe this report will be genuine as well.

In other news today…

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has been speaking about Chelsea’s test against Man City this weekend and his own level of preparation. He’s also been speaking about his own form of late.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing on a deal to sign Valentin Barco from Strasbourg this summer, and it is Liam Rosenior who has apparently played a key role in convincing the player to join.

Carolina Hurricanes Lose Jalen Chatfield to Injury: Everything We Know

In Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins, the Carolina Hurricanes’ top-pairing defenseman, Jalen Chatfield, left the game due to a lower-body injury.

With just under five minutes played in the third period, Chatfield departed after a short, 22-second shift – a shift that ended early due to a power play drawn by Nikolaj Ehlers. Soon after, he was officially ruled out.

Throughout the game, Chatfield did not block any shots and only received one registered hit, which was dealt by Alex Steeves and occurred in the early second period. There didn’t appear to be any notable stumbles from the Hurricanes blueliner in the nearly 14 minutes he played.

After the game, Rod Brind’Amour was asked if he had an update on the status of Chatfield.

“I don’t really have anything,” he said. “That’s the problem, not the problem – everyone’s got to deal with it. But, you know, you worry this time of year going into these games, it’s tough. So, I don’t know. I won’t have an update, though.”

The absence of any player due to injury is not something any team would want, especially so close to the postseason. However, it is an even bigger blow considering the role Chatfield has played for the Hurricanes this season, becoming half of the top-pairing alongside Jaccob Slavin after Brent Burns’ departure over the summer.

Only time will tell whether he’ll be back in the lineup for any of the games down the stretch.

The Boston Bruins picked up another crucial point, but overtime losses continue to follow them as the season nears its end.

The Bruins (43-26-10) jumped to a lead, fell behind, clawed back in the third period, but lost 6-5 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes (50-22-6) on Tuesday night at the Lenovo Center. Morgan Geekie (37) scored a hat trick, Pavel Zacha (30) hit 30 for the first time in his career, and Hampus Lindholm (5) scored his first goal since January.

Geekie’s three-goal showing comes after having none in the last 17 games.

“It’s always nice, but on days like today, it doesn’t really mean anything, right?” Geekie said about getting on the scoresheet. “Sure, for like, mentally I guess, yeah. It feels like you come in here, it doesn’t matter if you score six goals, you know. It’s just one of those things that, losses like that are tough to swallow, for sure.”

It was Geekie’s second game on a line with David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm, who both assisted his first goal. Pastrnak had another one and directly set up Geekie for his first two goals.

“Oh, 100%. I look for him all the time, obviously. No secret, right?” Pastrnak said after the game. “We have good chemistry. We play together well. He reads off me really well. I need him to score goals. He’s an important teammate for me and linemate.”

Pastrnak has assists on 19 of Geekie’s 37 goals. All but one are primary assists.

Geekie’s firsttwo goals came in the first period, along with Hampus Lindholm’s, which opened the scoring. The Bruins carried a 3-2 lead into the first intermission, but it quickly unraveled.

The Hurricanes scored threegoalsin 3:16 early in the second period, and Jeremy Swayman was pulled. He made 18 saves on the first 23 shots.

“I thought [there were] a couple bad bounces there for [Swayman]. I feel like it just wasn’t his night,” Marco Sturm said after the game. “I needed to spark something. Second period was just, overall, we didn’t protect him. We didn’t protect ourselves, basically. And I just wanted to change something.”

Joonas Korpisalo entered the game and stopped 16 of 17 in relief, including all 12 in the third period.

“Korpi made some crazy, you know, and again, it’s double frustrating not to get the win for him,” Pastrnak said. “That’s two nights. Obviously, my fault last game and today again. Tough, because he deserved better than the outcome.”

Morgan Geekie scored late in the second period to hit the hat trick, and Pavel Zacha tied the game with 7:25 to play in regulation with his 30th goal of the season. The goal marks Zacha’s first 30-goal season in the NHL.

But Jaccob Slavin won the game in overtime, recording the only shot that beat Korpisalo. It was his first goal of the season.

Eight of the last 11 Bruins’ road games have gone to overtime, dating back to March 8. They have lost five of them, including the last two.

The Bruins finish their four-game road trip without a win, going 0-2-2, a reminder of their road struggles earlier in the season. However, they scored more goals on Tuesday (5) than they did in the rest of the trip (3).

“Well, I feel like the legs was there, energy was there. We were a little bit slower, but energy was there,” Pastrnak added. “I mean, it’s tough, tough road trip. Obviously, I’m very frustrated. So, just going to have to look at it at the end of the day. It’s a big point in the standings. You know, we can go home. We are still in the spot, amazing spot that nobody thought about us, and you know, we have to recognize that also. It’s just tough losses in overtime back-to-back.”

Although they picked up two of eight points on the road trip, the Bruins’ playoff odds are up to 98.9%, per MoneyPuck. They have three games remaining, and the magic number is two, according to Hockey Magic Numbers.

The Bruins comfortably sit in the first wild card and trail the Canadiens, Sabres, and Lightning by six points. They have a four-point lead on the Ottawa Senators.

The Bruins are off until Saturday afternoon, when they take on the Atlantic Division-leading Tampa Bay Lightning (48-24-6). That is the first of a back-to-back; they will fly to Ohio on Saturday night for a Sunday evening matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets (39-27-12).

Scottie Scheffler excited Augusta shaping up for firm, fast Masters

Scottie Scheffler hits onto the No. 2 green during a practice round for the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.

Augusta, Ga. – Scottie Scheffler stirred a lot of discussion by saying that he doesn't find true fulfillment in winning, just days before capturing his fourth career major title at last year's Open Championship.

Nine months later, he is back at Augusta National, where the 29-year-old is already a two-time Masters champion. He is also recently a two-time father, with wife Meredith giving birth to son Remy last month.

Always careful not to mix the two, Scheffler has no problem keeping his professional and personal lives from becoming overly intertwined.

"I would say it's always been a battle for me trying to strike a balance between continuing to work hard, staying competitive, and also not having my – either my good golf or my bad golf – define me," he said Tuesday.

"Because that could go one of two ways. If I let my bad golf define me, I'd be a pretty miserable person. If I let my good golf define me, whether or not it's a green jacket or an Open Championship, then I'd walk around pretty arrogant all the time and I wouldn't be very nice to people because I think I'm hot stuff because I won a few golf tournaments."

Scheffler has won quite a few golf tournaments – 20 on the PGA Tour. Two of those have come at Augusta, where he won in 2022 and 2025 and has yet to finish outside of the top-20 in six previous appearances.

He returned this week with his family. He called Meredith "a trooper" as she runs point handling Remy's sleep schedule along with taking care of the couple's other son, Bennett.

That allows Scheffler to focus on his job, which he still takes great enjoyment in working on. Nowhere more than at Augusta.

"This place is almost a challenge in a sense that you need to be able to get your stuff done and go home because I could camp out on that range for days and days and continue to practice," he said. "It's a pretty nice place to be."

On Thursday, Scheffler will continue his quest to become just the seventh player in history to win the Masters at least three times. It's a tournament he believes all American golfers grow up wanting to get to, and enjoys the tranquility of a venue devoid of cellphones and chock full of respectful patrons.

"I truly feel that once you drive down Magnolia Lane, everything else melts away, and you get to be here and be focused. There's not a lot of distractions this week," he said. "For us as players, it's really an enjoyable experience.

"The forecast looks great. It's going to get firm and fast. I would imagine they would like the greens to get fast. I think that increases the challenge of the golf course. I'm excited to see how it plays this week. We might get a little bit of wind too. The golf course is shaping up nicely."

Scheffler declined to speculate on the state of his game. He hasn't teed it up in competition since tying for 22nd at The Players Championship, then withdrawing from the Houston Open the following week due to Remy's pending birth.

He has a win this year at The American Express, which was followed by a pair of top-5s, but then slipped to T12 at the Genesis and T24 at the Arnold Palmer before The Players. For now, Scheffler is camping out on that practice range, working to see what nuances Augusta National has introduced this year and planning for how the course might play with firm and fast conditions expected with a warm forecast.

"I try not to look too far in the past, I try not to look too far in the future," he said. "For me to think about (the state of my game), that would take a little bit of work, which I don't want to do right now."

“Transfer request” is the first sign of Spanish media getting to work to facilitate major Chelsea transfer

“Transfer request” is the first sign of Spanish media getting to work to facilitate major Chelsea transfer

Enzo Fernandez is preparing to put in a “transfer request” to get a move to Real Madrid, Spanish sources are saying.

If you enjoy Chelsea News coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.

Sources in Spain quoted by the Sun are claiming that Enzo Fernandez is going to put in a transfer request to try and secure a move to Real Madrid this summer.

The former Benfica man is in the middle of a two game ban from his own club for his open flirtation with the idea of leaving Chelsea, and repeated comments about how much he would like to live in Madrid.

Spanish media sources warming up Enzo campaign

Now we can safely say that the “transfer request” stuff is nonsense – they don’t really exist, beyond telling senior figures at the club you want to leave.

But what matters is that this is being reported, and who is reporting it. El Chiringuito may be a nonsense show, but those on the panel are very well connected (especially when it comes to Real Madrid) and the fact that Enzo’s potential move is now being put forward shows the first signs of the Spanish media machine getting behind the rumour.

If Enzo really wants to go and Madrid really want him, we can expect this to continue all summer.

In other news…

Cole Palmer has struggled with shooting from range since his injury, taking away one of his notable strong points.

Another person who needs to be “perfect” is Wesley Fofana. The defender has really lost the fans’ faith with his performance and attitude – but that’s easily fixed.
