Dylan Holloway’s two goals help Blues keep slim playoff hopes alive with win over Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Dylan Holloway scored a pair of power-play goals, Robert Thomas had a goal and two assists, and the St. Louis Blues kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.

Pius Suter and Colton Parayko each had a goal and an assist for St. Louis and Jonatan Berggren added a goal. Joel Hofer stopped 24 shots for the Blues, who pulled to within three points of the last wild-card spot in the Western Conference with seven games left.

Ryan Poehling had a goal and an assist, and Jeffrey Viel scored for the Ducks, who remain tied with Edmonton for first place in the Pacific Division but have lost four straight games. Lukas Dostal stopped 23 shots.

St. Louis extended a 3-2 first-period lead with two goals in the second. Tyler Tucker corralled a rebound behind the goal line and flicked a pass to Suter, who snapped a shot past Dostal for a 4-2 lead at the 3:08 mark. Parayko’s shot from the right circle beat Dostal glove-side for a 5-2 lead with 3:10 left.

Holloway’s power-play goal in the third made it 6-2.

The teams combined for five goals in the first period.

The Ducks, playing their second straight game without leading scorer Cutter Gauthier (upper-body injury), took a 1-0 lead when Poehling redirected Mason McTavish’s shot from the blue line past Hofer 1:51 into the game.

St. Louis answered at 5:24 when Philip Broberg threaded a pass behind Ducks defender Ian Moore to a Thomas.

Holloway’s power-play goal gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead with 8:42 left, but Viel’s tap-in of a cross-ice pass from Poehling tied it 2-2 with 3:59 left.

Moises Caicedo casts doubt on his Chelsea future after Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella

Moises Caicedo casts doubt on his Chelsea future after Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella

Moises Caicedo is the latest Chelsea player to cast doubt on his future in West London after Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella.

The 24-year-old insisted he is not thinking about leaving the Blues but refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid.

Caicedo is contracted with Chelsea until 2031, but he could push for an exit if the club fails to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Liam Rosenior’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League table after picking up just three points from their previous four games.

When asked about a possible transfer to Madrid during an interview with AS, Caicedo said: “You never know in football, don’t you think?

“I have a contract with Chelsea now.

“The truth is, I haven’t honestly thought about another club, about leaving London, but well, in the end, you never know in football.”

Caicedo is the third Chelsea player to raise doubts over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Fernandez caused outrage by admitting he would love to live in Madrid.

Cucurella also made headlines by saying it would be difficult to turn down a move to Barcelona in the future.

The Spaniard criticised the club’s youth transfer policy and their decision to sack Enzo Maresca as head coach.

While Cucurella escaped punishment, Chelsea have banned Fernandez for two games over his controversial comments.

The Argentine will not play the upcoming fixtures against Port Vale in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the Premier League.

Fernandez’s agent has hit back at the club, calling their decision ‘completely unfair’.

Javier Pastore insisted his client never intended to disrespect Chelsea with his comments.

Who ripped UConn star Sarah Strong's jersey in Women's Final Four loss vs South Carolina?

UConn women’s basketball star forward Sarah Strong did not finish her team’s Final Four game against South Carolina in the same jersey she started it in.

After missing a shot at the buzzer to end the third quarter, Strong ripped her No. 21 jersey. She changed into No. 55 for the rest of the No. 1 overall seed Huskies’ 62-48 loss to the No. 1 seed Gamecocks at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix on April 3.

With the win over UConn (38-1), South Carolina (36-3) has advanced to the title game where it will face No. 1 seed UCLA on April 5 (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC).

“It was an accident,” Strong said. “I missed my shot. Ripped it by accident.”

UConn coach Geno Auriemma suggested that a South Carolina player ripped Strong’s jersey. It’s not clear if the jersey was already partially torn before Strong pulled it apart.

“I've been coaching a long time. I've never had a kid have to change their jersey because somebody ripped it and the official said, ‘I didn't see it,’” he said.

Auriemma took issue with the officiating throughout the game, particularly in the third quarter. The Huskies were whistled for six fouls in the period, meanwhile, South Carolina wasn’t called for any, causing him to express his frustration over the disparity in an on-camera interview with ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe.

UConn finished the game with 17 team fouls while South Carolina had eight. The Gamecocks shot 22 free throws to the Huskies’ six.

“I'm just saying there was not a single foul called on them in the third quarter,” Auriemma said. “I have a kid that's one of the best players in the country and has got the ball a lot and is trying to get something done, and you mean to tell me there was never a time when she got fouled? Find that hard to believe.”

In his interview with Rowe, Auriemma also claimed South Carolina coach Dawn Staley had spoken to officials in an inappropriate manner. He said he had no regrets on what he said in the interview and doubled down on those comments postgame.

“I just want to make sure there's not a double standard,” he said. “I'm of the opinion that if I ever talk to an official like that, I would get tossed. So, I just want to make sure there's not a double standard, that some people are allowed to talk to officials like that and other people are not. That's it.”

Despite saying he was frustrated with the situation, he made it clear he was not advocating, retroactively, for Staley to have been ejected from the game.

“It's not my place to judge whether any coach should ever get tossed,” he said. “I'm not suggesting that that should have happened tonight at all. Not at all.”

Tensions rose further just before the final buzzer when Auriemma started an argument with Staley on the sideline because he said she had not shaken his hand pregame.

US sprinters Richardson and Coleman advance to the Stawell Gift semifinals in Australia

STAWELL, Australia (AP) — American sprinters Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman won their heats Saturday and qualified for Monday's semifinals of the Stawell Gift, an annual race contested over 120 meters on grass in a small Australian town near Melbourne.

Both Richardson and Coleman are racing from “scratch” in the 144th edition of the event, meaning they must run the entire distance and chase down opponents who in some cases may start 25 meters ahead of them.

Richardson won her heat in 13.815 seconds Saturday and Coleman his in 12.681. On Monday there will be six semifinals in each of the men's and women's divisions, with the winners of each of the heats advancing to the respective finals.

“My experience so far is just reminding me what track and field feels like — love the respect and also fun,” Richardson told 7plus Television after the heat.

“It felt like being a kid again, playing tag, like playing rabbit. I had a great time, and it just kind of woke my body up with this being the first time running in 2026 . . . chasing everyone actually made me activate and work on my race pattern."

Richardson is one of the fastest women of all time, winning a silver medal in the 100 meters in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and gold in the 4x100 relay that same year.

Coleman is a former world champion over 100 meters. He and Richardson appear to have continued their relationship despite a domestic violence charge against Richardson last July.

There are more than 700 competitors in the Stawell race, including many of Australia's top runners, in the event held about 235 kilometers (145 miles) west of Melbourne. The men's and women's finals each carry a prize of 40,000 Australian dollars ($27,500).

It has not been disclosed whether Richardson or Coleman were paid appearance money to take part in the race. Last year Australian media reported that top Australian sprinter Gout Gout was paid 50,000 Australian dollars (35,000) to run at Stawell, where he was eliminated in the semifinals.

Richardson said this week that she was excited about the handicap format.

“I’ve been known to be a chaser in a couple of races, so actually the challenge of the stagger makes me more technical and sound, and with that comes great results," she said in comments on the Australian Athletics website.

Coleman, known for its fast starts, said he's the opposite.

“I’m usually leading from the front and people are trying to come catch me. I feel that this will be the perfect start to the season, to have some fun, but also be able to work on the things I have been practicing,” he said.

Arsenal XI vs Southampton – Predicted lineup and team news

Arsenal host a high-flying Southampton tonight, aiming to secure a Wembley return and maintain their historic treble pursuit.

The Gunners reached the quarter-finals after professional wins over Portsmouth, Wigan and Mansfield. Arteta, however, oversaw a difficult international break, with several players withdrawing due to fitness issues.

Despite that disruption, a clinical performance tonight would see the North London side reach the semi-finals for the 31st time. They have progressed from 14 of their last 16 FA Cup quarter-finals — a pedigree they will look to draw on once again.

Arsenal team news

Arteta heads into the tie managing a significant attacking injury crisis. Noni Madueke is unavailable after suffering a knee injury during England duty, paving the way for 16-year-old Max Dowman to start on the right wing once more.

The teenager already made history as the club’s youngest FA Cup starter in the previous round, and another impressive display tonight would further cement his growing reputation.

Meanwhile, Martin Ødegaard and Jurriën Timber have both returned to training and should feature in the matchday squad — a timely boost for the hosts. Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapié, however, remain firmly ruled out.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to start in goal despite his recent Carabao Cup final error. In defence, Riccardo Calafiori and William Saliba are likely to feature, while Christian Nørgaard and Myles Lewis-Skelly provide fresh legs in midfield as Arteta rests several international stars.

Further forward, Gabriel Martinelli leads the competition with five goal involvements from the third round onwards and will be central to Arsenal’s hopes of forcing their way through tonight.

Arsenal predicted lineup

Arsenal Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Nørgaard, Lewis-Skelly; Dowman, Havertz, Martinelli; Jesus

When will the match kick off?

The FA Cup quarter-final tie at St Mary’s Stadium will kick off this Saturday, 4 April, at 20:00 BST.

How to watch Southampton vs Arsenal?

UK viewers can watch the match live on BBC One and TNT Sports 1. Digital streaming is available via BBC iPlayer and the discovery+ app.
