2026 NFL draft: New York Jets to host Round 1 receiver on top-30 visit

2026 NFL draft: New York Jets to host Round 1 receiver on top-30 visit

The New York Jets have signaled interest in USC wide receiver Makai Lemon prior to the 2026 NFL draft.

The Jets hold two selections in Round 1 of the upcoming event at Nos. 2 and 16 overall. More likely a target for the second of the two, Lemon is being looked at more intently as he is reportedly having a top-30 visit in New York:

For the Jets, wide receiver is a need so the team's offense has a complement to Garrett Wilson at the position.

A 5-foot-11 playmaker, Lemon had 79 catches, 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games played in 2025. NFL.com's draft profile on Lemon compares his skill set to that of Detroit Lions' All-Pro wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Liverpool predicted lineups: Who will start in Champions League first leg at PSG?

The knockout rounds put Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain together again this season, this year one round later in the quarterfinal stage.

PSG dispatched Liverpool over two legs in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League Round of 16, coming back from a 1-0 deficit at the Parc des Princes to beat the Reds in penalties at Anfield.

It was a tale of two halves dripping in classic "That's football" as the eventual champion Parisiens lost the first leg despite out-attempting Liverpool 27-2 in Paris and won the second leg despite Liverpool putting seven of their 19 shots on target.

The first leg is again in France and Arne Slot won't necessarily mimic his tactics against Luis Enrique, who would take last season's first leg performance 10 out of 10 times. And he could use many of the same components. Gone are Gianluigi Donnarumma — now with Man City — while Fabian Ruiz is out with a knee injury and Bradley Barcola has been dealing with an ankle injury, but their 4-3-3 remains dangerous from back-to-front.

Liverpool are a much different team without last season's two-legged starters Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the late Diogo Jota while Alisson Becker is hurt, Andy Robertson is second-choice this season, and Mohamed Salah looks to have lost a step in what will be his last season at Anfield.

How much magic does Liverpool have left, and can they take advantage of the absence of Ruiz in the middle of the park? Here are some possible lineups for both sides.

Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs Liverpool

—— Neves—- Vitinha —- Zaire-Emery —-

—— Doue —- Dembele —- Kvaratskhelia —-

Bradley Barcola is set to miss this leg and star forward Ousmane Dembele has been playing with a minor calf injury. Enrique could use Desire Doue in the midfield if he wants to move Dembele to wing or start Kang-in Lee, while Goncalo Ramos is also an option up top. Illia Zabarnyi gets plenty of time at center back this season, while Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Beraldo are a valuable backs.

—— Gravenberch —- Mac Allister —-

—— Salah —- Wirtz—- Gakpo —-

——- Ekitike ——-

Alexander Isak could make his long-awaited return for Liverpool but a starting role seems beyond the pale. Alisson Becker will not be fit to play, but Liverpool have everyone else available. The Reds seem to be better when Cody Gakpo is in the fold, and Slot may be tempted to go more attack-minded and return Dominik Szoboszlai to right back rather than re-roll the back four that were ripped apart by Man City.

Dexter Lawrence believes he's in line for a raise

Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence signed his current contract three years ago. With a 2026 payout of $20 million and a 2027 compensation package of $19.5 million, Lawrence believes it's time for a change.

As we understand it, Lawrence has tried to get one from the Giants. Their reluctance to make an offer he'd accept sparked Monday’s trade request.

The argument from Lawrence's perspective is simple. The market has changed. The salary cap continues to spike. And Lawrence continues to be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league.

His APY is south of $22 million. The top of the market for interior defensive linemen has reached $31.75 million. The recent contract signed by Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis — who is very good but is not Dexter Lawrence — has a new-money APY of $26 million.

So if Lawrence isn't going to get the contract adjustment he believes he deserves from the Giants, he'll try to get one elsewhere. And the trade request operates as an invitation for other teams to make the Giants an offer.

He still draws double teams. He still creates disruption. And the Giants may soon find out that he still will generate significant interest from other teams.

Even if no trade happens, the calls that may soon be coming to G.M. Joe Schoen could be the wakeup call that shakes a little more cash from the Giants' coffers.

Meanwhile, time is of the essence for Lawrence. He's 28. The window on his prime will be closing. Now is the time to get paid for the remaining years of high-end performance that he'll be bringing to his team, whichever team that may be.

Yankees have a Ryan McMahon problem — and it's time to trade Jasson Dominguez or Spencer Jones

The New York Yankees traded for Ryan McMahon in July with the hope of solving their third base woes.

It hasn't worked.

It's still early, but this season, McMahon is just 2-for-23 with two singles, meaning he has an .087 slugging percentage.

McMahon has struck out in 11 of those 23 at bats, as well.

Simply put, the Yankees can only put up with hitting like that for so much longer. If McMahon isn't the third base answer, they've got to find one somewhere else.

So what can they do?

Well, one option is to go after another trade. This time, they'd send away either Jasson Dominguez or Spencer Jones.

Both young outfielders are at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre because they're blocked from playing time at the MLB level. And unless they magically become infielders, the best way to extract present value from them would be to turn one into a third baseman.

Maybe the answer resides with the New York Mets. Would the crosstown rival trade either Brett Baty or Mark Vientos for either Dominguez or Jones?

What about the Minnesota Twins? Royce Lewis could use a change of scenery.

The Phillies' Alec Bohm is often in trade rumors. Could the Yankees pull off a deal for him?

While no noise is out there about a trade, it certainly seems like the Yanks should think about it. Do they want to win a World Series with Aaron Judge? It might have to come with another good infielder on the roster and one less piece of upside-laden outfield depth at Triple-A.

NFL Reporter Left Owners Meetings With Confident A.J. Brown-Patriots Prediction

Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown

NFL Reporter Left Owners Meetings With Confident A.J. Brown-Patriots Prediction originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

One NFL reporter is more confident than ever about the possibility of the Patriots landing A.J. Brown.

Tennessee Titans reporter Easton Freeze, who works for A to Z Sports, left last week's NFL owners meetings convinced New England eventually will trade for Brown. Of course, numerous offseason rumors have identified the Patriots as the clear favorites to trade for the Philadelphia Eagles receiver.

"One thing I'll be leaving the owners meetings way too sure of: A.J. Brown will wear a Patriots jersey this fall," Freeze wrote in an X post.

Freeze didn't elaborate further, but it's fair to assume he made his prediction after speaking with sources at the meetings. Regardless, his post added more fuel to an ever-growing fire.

Whether Brown is traded to the Patriots remains to be seen. However, at this juncture, it's hard to envision him returning to the Eagles for another season, as all signs point toward both sides wanting to move on.

Though undeniably on the decline, Brown remains a true No. 1 receiver. The 28-year-old posted 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games last season. Brown is a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion.
